Jason Smith heads Titletraq, a company in the business of property records based at Plano, Texas. Titletraq builds Title Plants for counties in various regions and have partnered with Indecomm for services related to mortgage documents: Grouping and Indexing, Posting data, Legal posting and Map. Jason discusses how Titletraq’s relationship with Indecomm has given them a competitive edge.

What are the key trends in the title search industry today? How do these trends translate as business challenges?
Sophisticated technology and processing massive amounts of data are critical to compete in the title search industry. Our biggest challenge is making complex technology and huge amounts of data appear simple and nimble.

Which are the areas in your business that an offshore partner could value add to?
Our offshore partner, Indecomm, allows us to leverage our technology and expertise to levels we can't reach on a standard internal model. They have been able to replicate the sophisticated technology used for our processes at their end with minimal involvement of our internal team.

Can you elaborate on how Titletraq went about their offshoring plans? What made you choose Indecomm as a partner?
We needed a team with experience in our industry and the ability to translate high-level strategies into day-to-day operations. Indecomm technology is sophisticated and extensively scalable, and the management "gets" our business. We are rarely required to explain a project or process more than once.

Also, the fact that Indecomm works with Fortune 500 companies with stringent internal audit requirements provides additional confidence.

Could you please articulate how your association with Indecomm has evolved?
The key success factor for growth and new projects has been effective communication of high-level strategy; Indecomm understood what we were trying to accomplish early in the relationship.

Our initial projects were relatively small (in volume). But, once we developed our communication process and integrated our technologies, we're able to deploy huge projects in a matter of hours.

What has been the overall impact of your association with Indecomm – cost reduction, process improvement, efficiency, productivity, responsiveness etc?
Indecomm has provided the resources to rapidly expand our business without sacrificing our focus on quality. We're now as nimble and responsive working with 100 markets as we were originally working with 5. Volume and cost reduction are important, but without quality we can't stay in business - Indecomm understands that.

Could you talk about the whole experience of partnering with an offshore company?
There is commitment from both ends that takes the form of initial investment and hence this is necessarily a long-term partnership. Patience is required of both partners. The most important part of developing an offshore partner is this understanding from the start that it is an investment - the more you put into it, the more you'll get out. We have been working with Indecomm for about a year and have, without question, already recovered our investment. That's an impressive return.

Can you please comment on what is the road ahead for the Titletraq - Indecomm partnership?
Growth, both in depth of process and volume of transactions.
